Jazz Ma Tazz actually began in 1989 and was chartered as a club affiliate of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS). Jazz Ma Tazz was organized as a non-profit corporation in 1993 with the State of Louisiana. The purpose of the organization (Jazz Ma Tazz) is to encourage and promote the sport of skiing among skiers, to bring together those persons sincerely interested in promoting the sport of skiing among minorities, and to collectively enhance the sport of skiing through community involvement, group participation, social, and educational activities.
The NBS mission is to identify, develop, and support athletes of color who will win international and Olympic winter sports competitions representing the United States. The resources required to support and promote elite athletes are extensive. Contributions to the NBS Olympic Scholarship Fund are tax deductible and go directly to support Team NBS.
