Kennedy Hicks – Racing Down the Mountain

 

Kennedy is thrilled to be a member of Team NBS for 2022-2023. Kennedy is a member of the NBS Eastern Region – Snowburners NY Ski Club. She is 15 years old and has been skiing for 11 years and competing for 8 years. Kennedy attended the NBS Summit in Vail for the NBS 50th Anniversary. At the Summit she met and skied with her Team NBS athletes.

 

Kennedy attends the Carrabassett Valley Academy where her discipline is moguls. The Carrabassett Valley Academy is a ski and snowboard academy in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain.

 

She participates in a Fall dry land training 6 days a week. She spent 6 weeks in Winter Park, went to Water Ramps in Lake Placid twice for a total of 8 days. She will be going to Whistler for 6 days of on snow training as well.

 

Kennedy’s 3 top goals for the 2022-2023 season are:

  • Speed- Kennedy is looking to shed 1-2 seconds this summer through dryland training, on snow training and water ramps
  • Back x – Kennedy is working on perfecting this trick as well as introducing a new trick next season
  • Confidence

 

For the 2022-23 season Kennedy plans to ski for USSA and Junior Nationals, and some competitions on the West Coast.

 

Here are 2 of her top race results from the 2021-2022 season:

  • 5th Place at Waterville Valley, New Hampshire
  • 3rd Place at Palisades, California

           

She also competed in the Kegan Cup in Sugarloaf, Maine. And she came in 14th for singles and came back to win duals and she participated in the Rosemary Bowl, in Waterville, New Hampshire and came in 20th for singles day 1, and 8th singles day 2.

 

Kennedy’s long-term goal is to become a member of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team and then go on to the Olympics.
